Ubiquitous to houses built in the 1990s, this house was originally adorned with massive round columns, hip roofs & concrete cornices. The brief was to transform the house into a modern abode. The designers embarked on a transformative journey, bidding farewell to those columns and triangular pitch roofs, ushering in a modern era.
A significant design shift involved relocating the double-volume opening. Originally nestled within the living area, it now graces the main entrance. This architectural adjustment welcomes guests into an awe-inspiring space. A unique greeting in the form of a hanging light sculpture was installed. It extends from the second level to the first, composed of lights of varying sizes and finishes, weaving a captivating narrative. This transformation has elevated an ornamental display into the home’s central focal point, embracing visitors with the essence of this magnificent journey.
The layouts were re-imagined to create an open-concept living space. The heart of the home, the kitchen, expanded and merged with the living area, fostering social connections. The basement, a weekend haven, now houses a bespoke wine chiller for the owners’ prized collection. A “night sky filled with stars” was planned in the ceiling of the basement where the owners often gather with their friends.
Our goal was to marry aesthetics with practicality. Large, panelled full-height sliding doors invite abundant natural light and air, forging an inseparable bond with the outdoors. Privacy reigns on the second level, where bedroom windows offer a more modest view. Natural materials such as wood, fabric, and wallpaper infuse the master bedroom with a luxurious ambiance.
Ventilation was a key consideration, ensuring a constant influx of fresh air to revitalize the living atmosphere. Each bedroom radiates a modern-luxury ambiance reminiscent of a five-star hotel suite.
